"Windshield Stalker"


Do you ever peek in people's windshields as they drive by?




Do you notice their faces as they hurry to get somewhere?




I have to admit, I am a "windshield stalker."




I am an avid people watcher. I wonder about their "stories." I notice when someone looks sad or stressed out.




So....I look in every window that passes me by.




Sometimes I pray for a person that looks sad or angry.




Sometimes I pray that I would have an attitude of person who is joyfully smiling through the windshield.





Sometimes I pray for protection of the person speeding by too quickly!




I have been so blessed by praying for these "strangers" God has placed in my path. Sometimes, though, it is tempting to feel frustrated that I didn't do "enough".......or say "enough."




But, I heard Joyce Meyer share a similar story recently. When she was shopping, a clerk said something to her and she regretted not "correcting" her with the Truth. She felt that she had missed an "opportunity." God reminded her, though, that she had the OPPORTUNITY to pray for that woman!




I sometimes regret not opening my mouth and saying more or doing more, but this was revelation that I AM! I have the opportunity to pray for that lonely person sitting on a bench...the grouchy salesclerk....the receptionist....the passerby in the next car.




I have the privilege to pray for people that may NEVER again have someone praying for them.




And then......




God DOES call us to DO things for those who are hurting.




The Holy Spirit has shown me lately how important it is to have open eyes, listening ears, and a willing heart. In one day, God laid on my heart several people to reach out and "touch."




"Email a friend to let her know how great her husband has been doing in youth ministry."




"Don't just delete that informational email. Take a few minutes to reply to the busy church leader, letting her know you appreciate all of the work she has been doing in women's ministry."




"Send a card to a friend who has been going through a tough time."




"Spend a few minutes talking to the clerk at the dry cleaners."




"Pray for this person that keeps coming to your mind."




God gives us this incredible opportunity to pray for others, even strangers. We don't always know what someone is going through, or dealing with. We may never know the eternal ramifications that a simple email, spiritually timed, may have.

Oh, Lord, that is the cry of my heart! How I want to see people the way You see them! I don't want to be too busy that I pass by without noticing. I don't want to miss the lonely, the hurting, the overwhelmed, the broken...




....."Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?" The King will reply, "I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me." -Matthew 25:37-40


Father, help me to "see" people with Your eyes. Help me to listen better to people and really hear what they are saying. Help me to keep my mouth closed until Your Spirit prompts me to open it and then speak what YOU want me to say! Lord, help me to always remember to pray for those you place before me. I love You, Lord! In Jesus' Name I pray. Amen.

I WILL obey....next time!

I was reading Joyce Meyer's "Battlefield of the Mind" and the chapter was about "unbelief." She was saying that unbelief always leads to disobedience. It really struck a chord with me because my mentor has consistently talked about obedience really being an issue of faith. Do I really believe God? If I do, then I will obey.

I love this picture. It was taken at our local YMCA. Usually, on a busy soccer or football day, the grass is PACKED with parked cars. Do you notice the sign? Even though people are told NOT to park on the grass.....it isn't allowed....they still choose to disobey and do it anyway.

If they believed there was something WRONG with parking in the grass, I am sure they wouldn't (or at least a majority wouldn't). But, in their minds, they don't think there is anything really wrong with parking there, so they do.

I have a 13 year old who is beginning to push the limits. He is beginning to make choices on what he wants to obey. I have noticed that when he thinks a rule "isn't a big deal," he will make the CHOICE if he wants to obey. For example, he likes to listen to the ipod while going to sleep. I have a rule that only Christian music is allowed at this time. While the kids are falling asleep, I want the Word (in song) to fill their minds. He didn't BELIEVE that music was important, so he chose to disobey.

If I truly trust God, believing in what He says, then I won't question or reason or make excuses....I will obey. I won't come to the Word, picking and choosing what I want to follow. If I believe that the Word is His Will, His plan, then I won't question it, but obey it.

Whew! This can be hard for me!

And, when my mentor first told me that unbelief was a faith issue, I didn't agree.

I thought, "I believe God! I trust Him. I am just being rebellious." But, if I really TRUSTED Him, in His plan, in His ways, then WHY would I not do it? If I know that His way would lead to life and peace, then why would I choose another way?
For me, as I pondered this, I realized that at times I think I KNOW BEST.

I may think, "God, I know You are telling me to do such and such, but I am going to try this first." I may not consciously THINK, "my way is better." But, that's where my actions are rooted! If I really BELIEVED that God's way was best, then I wouldn't take a chance with MY "trial and error."

In Mark 9, a man comes to Jesus and asks Him to heal his demon-possessed son. The man says, "If you can do anything, take pity on us and help us." Jesus retorted, "If you can?????" He then says, "Everything is possible for him who believes." IMMEDIATELY the father exclaimed, "I do believe" and then says, "help me overcome my unbelief!"


That is the cry of my heart! Lord, help me overcome my unbelief! When I have doubt or think MY way is better, Lord help my unbelief! When the situation LOOKS impossible through my eyes, Lord help my unbelief! When the world says the opposite of what you say and my mind begins to reason...Lord help my unbelief! Make my faith strong and unwavering.

There is a line in a Newsboys' song that goes, "Trust and obey. There is no other way." Notice that "trust" comes first. Of course, obey rhymes with way, so that may be it as well!! :-) Seriously, there is no other way for our lives. Having the faith of a child, child-like faith as Jesus says in Matthew 18 and 19, simply trusting/believing THEN obeying without question.

Father God, help my unbelief! Work in me such a strong faith that does not waver, does not question, does not make excuses. Give me Your eyes. Help me to see things the way You do. And, when I can't, help me to have such a strong trust in You that I obey in spite of what I think or want! Lord, You are so good. Your ways are perfect and true. Thank You for loving me. Thank You for Your patience with me. In Jesus' Name I pray. Amen.

3. Read Romans 4 and the original story of Abraham in Genesis 15. Look then at Abraham's faith in Genesis 22. Ponder Abraham's faith and obedience, even when in the natural what God was asking didn't make sense.

Have a “Mary” Christmas!

Wow! Is your calendar as busy as mine? AND- it's only the first week of December!

As we begin to jump into the Christmas season, and all of the activities that surround it, I am again reminded that I must keep grounded on what Christmas is all about- the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is so easy to get caught up in all of the busyness, the things on all of our “to-do” lists, the shopping and entertaining…

As I catch my breath, and remind myself to slow down, God again uses “Mary and Martha” to teach me these lessons.

One of my favorite Bible stories is the story of two sisters, Mary and Martha. Both sisters loved Jesus, and He would often come to visit them. Now Martha, the older sister, had a servant heart, but could get caught up in all of the details and become distracted by her many tasks.

One day Jesus came to visit the women. Martha was preparing a meal for them while her sister, Mary, the Bible tells us, sat at the feet of Jesus. Well, as Martha was busy with all of the preparations, she allows her heart to go from serving joyfully and selflessly to getting angry that she is doing all the work alone.

As I read the story, I can picture Martha clanging the dishes, hoping to get Mary’s attention, banging the cupboard doors, and sighing loudly- you know, the “huhhhs”- expecting Mary to hear and get the hint! And, why do I think this? Probably because this is MY typical behavior when I am feeling sorry for myself in these situations!

Well, Martha finally blows, and she storms in the room where Jesus and Mary are sitting, and whines, “Lord! Don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”

Boy, do I hear my own whining voice in this story, especially at this time of year. “Lord! Don’t You care that I am doing all of the work by myself? You know? The cleaning, the shopping, the wrapping, the cooking, the decorating, sending the cards, the baking… Make Brian help me!”

But, Jesus is not concerned with the fancy dinner, the decorations, the fluff. He tells Martha, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things. But, only one thing is needed and Mary has chosen what is better and it won’t be taken from her.”

You see, sitting at the feet of the Savior, drawing near to Him, listening to Him, being still and knowing Him- that is what is important and it won’t be taken from you. It is the “one thing” our stressed, tired spirits need! It is the “one thing” that I NEED!

This Christmas, we can get caught up in shopping for the gifts, stringing the lights, decorating the tree, singing the songs, attending the parties, the details and distractions.

But, my prayer for you is that this Christmas, you will experience THE gift- the Bright and Morning Star, the Prince of Peace, the Wonderful Counselor, our Hope, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, your Burden Bearer, Our Strength, and Our Salvation, Immanuel- God With Us.
My gift to all of you is the message that He loves you, you are His
Beloved, and that He wants to fill you with all joy and peace, both now, at
Christmas time and for the rest of your life!

“May the God of all endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with ONE heart and ONE mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. This Christmas, this New Year, and forever, “May He bless you and keep you. May He make His face shine down upon you. May he be gracious to you and give you peace.” Amen!

Garbage Day




Aaaahhhh, "Garbage Day." I LOVE Garbage Day.


(For those who are "Go Green minded, I DO recycle, but for simplicity's sake,) I will refer to all of it as "TRASH!")

Now you may think it is a little strange to be so excited about Garbage Day, but with a family of seven and the youngest in diapers, I love getting the trash OUT of the house and garage. The garbage seems to pile up in the three bathrooms and the kids' rooms especially. And, since our garbage disposal is broken, I now scrape the dirty
dishes into the trash and by Thursday (our Garbage Day), the smell can sometimes be quite obnoxious. Somehow, getting rid of it makes the house seem cleaner....


I was thinking that just as we need to "take out the trash" at home, we also need to take the trash out of our hearts and minds. Boy, can the garbage pile up in those places, too!


I am so thankful that through the blood of Jesus Christ, I am "trash free!" He cleanses me and takes away my sin. Through Him, I am a New Creation- the old has gone. No matter what the sins of my past were, they are gone.


"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."-1John 1:9

And, just as we would never want to bring that stinky trash back IN our house, Jesus does not want us to bring "the trash" back into our hearts and minds. Sometimes, even though we have been forgiven, we don't forgive ourselves and we continue to lament over our past sins, dredging them back up, replaying them over and over again in our minds. We forget that God does not see our sins anymore once He has forgiven them. "Love does not keep a record of wrongs." When God sees us, He sees us in Jesus, completely forgiven, completely new. He has no memory of our past mistakes and failures.


"....your life is now hidden with Christ in God." -Colossians 3:3

And, sometimes, I let the "trash" collect in my thought life. I need to take out the "trash" of wrong, negative thinking. I let worry, doubt, critical thoughts, and comparisons collect there. I need to "rid myself of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from my lips." I need to set my mind on "things that are above, not on earthly things." I need to "cast down all imaginations" and take every "thought captive" in Jesus Christ.


"...whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure,
whatever is lovely, whatever admirable- if anything is excellent or
praiseworthy- think about such things." -Philippians 4:8


Have you ever heard the saying, "Garbage in, garbage out"? The thoughts we meditate on, either good or bad, Truth or lies, wholesome or unwholesome, Godly or fleshly will come "out" in our actions, beliefs, and behaviors.


I also can let the "garbage" collect in my heart. I can harbor anger, unforgiveness, envy and jealousy in my heart. This garbage can get pretty "stinky"! I continually ask God to search my heart, showing me anything that is in there that needs to be dealt with. Like the garbage in my kids' trash cans, I sometimes don't even know it's there. But, I find it when the smell gets my attention as I walk around the house, sniffing the air like a hound dog, trying to find the odorous culprit! When I find the stinky garbage, I don't leave it there, but get rid of it. The same with my heart. I ask God to purify my heart, to "create in me a new heart and renew a right spirit within me." I go to God in prayer.
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition,
with thanksgiving, present your requests to the Lord. Then, the peace that
passes all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus."-
Philippians 4:6
Tracy's paraphrase: Pray about everything THEN God's peace will guard, keep safe my heart and mind. Through prayer, the Holy Spirit will show me "trash" that needs to be taken out of my heart and mind.


Jesus, praise You! Thank You that You cleanse me and purify me. Thank You that You take out the garbage in my mind and my heart. Thank You, Lord, that I am a new creation in You. Thank You that when You get rid of the garbage, it is GONE! Lord, help me to continually get rid of the things that are not Your best for me. In Jesus' Name I pray. Amen.

1. Is there any "trash" in your life that needs to be taken out? Spend a few minutes in prayer asking God to reveal to you any wrong thinking or heart attitudes that need to be removed.



2. Have you brought back in trash that God has removed? Has He forgiven you of a sin, but you keep thinking on it, reliving it?

Rockin' at VBS!


This week has been Vacation Bible School at our church- a wild week of praising God, loud singing, crafts, games, and kids shining God's light. Several years ago God called me out to lead worship with the kids during the opening and closing of VBS. I am privileged each summer to spend a few hours a day sharing how much God loves these precious children (and over 100 teenage and adult helpers).

It's funny that God would call me to this because I can't sing! The "tech" people turn off my microphone when the actual singing begins! Isn't it amazing the things God empowers us to do when He calls us? But, as God showed me, leading the worship is much more than singing. It is an opportunity to honestly share my faith with the kids and openly sharing what a "relationship" with God looks like in life. So, even though I am always nervous the first night to get up and "lead worship", I always know it is "all Him!"



God again reminded me of this with the theme of this year's theme.

We faced our fears, remembering that God is with us during scary times of our lives. In fact, that was the "Bible Point" of the first day: God is with us. We heard about Moses and how God spoke to him through a burning bush in the desert. God gave Moses a hard job to do, but promised Moses that He would be with him. The next day, as we learned about the plagues that God brought to Egypt, we saw that OUR GOD IS POWERFUL! Then we learned that we can TRUST God because He keeps His promises. God kept His people safe and separated as He brought the final plague, destroying the pagan kingdom that had ruthlessly enslaved and used His people for generations. The last day of VBS we saw the Israelites escape Egypt through a miraculous parting of the Red Sea. We saw how God rescued His people through His chosen deliverer, Moses, and then heard about THE Deliverer, our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.

We learned how God gives us life through His Son, Jesus. Whenever these bible points were mentioned throughout the day (and there were LOTS), the kids would shout out, "Fear not!" We talked about when life can be scary, we don't have to be afraid BECAUSE God is with us, He's powerful, He does what He says He's going to do, and He gives us life.



The message is simple and the kids SOAK it all in. They simply believe. They don't complicate it or try to reason how everything fits together.



They simply believe God is with them when THEY have to do hard things in their lives.



They believe that God is powerful.



They believe there were signs and wonders in Egypt and the MIRACLE of the Red Sea.



They believe that God loves them so much that He sent His Son, Jesus to deliver US.



Jesus tells us that we must have "childlike faith" to enter the Kingdom of God. (Matthew 18:3-4) As adults, we sometimes complicate God's simple, but life-changing promises with our reasoning, our circumstances, what is happening to us....



God reminded ME of exactly this when on the last night, "Family Night", everything started to go wrong at home. Family Night is a huge celebration where all the kids and their families join together to highlight what the kids have been doing during the week. With over 300 hundred families attending, some unchurched and many not saved, we know that it is a tremendous opportunity to share the Gospel message and God's love with them.

This of course, is a time when the enemy will be in full force! He was wreaking havoc in our household about an before it was time to go. Not to mention that we had spent the last 5 days attending VBS both in the mornings and the evenings and our whole family was reaching exhaustion! As I was beginning to reach "meltdown" mode, God's still, small voice whispered to my heart, "Tracy, you have teaching these kids all week to depend on Me, and not to be afraid. You are TEACHING it, but are you BELIEVING it? Do you believe I am with you? Do you believe I am powerful? Do you believe I am trustworthy? Are you coming to Me during a difficult time?"



That was a powerful lesson for me, and for all those in ministry (including blogging!). We can teach a Sunday School lesson or speak at a women's conference or blog a post about trusting God, and sometimes forget to live it out ourselves! Needless to say, I immediately got down on my knees, gave it all to God, and prayed for His protection around our household and church. It was an amazing "Family Night" that included the Gospel message and bringing our sins to the cross to be forgiven by Jesus.


God IS WITH US!


God IS POWERFUL!


God is TRUSTWORTHY!


And, God does GIVE US LIFE!

Making the Bed





The other morning my husband and I were making our bed. This is not a chore we usually do together. It is so silly, but, working together, chatting about daily life, helping one another complete this simple task filled me with such joy. I was making his side and he was making mine. I'm not even sure how we ended up that way, but each was making up the other's place. I pulled up his covers, he covered where I sleep. It was so sweet as we each took care to straighten the other's spot, making sure the pillows were in the right place (there are three colors with the green going on the outside!). In the midst of this, God whispered to my heart, "Tracy, this is how marriage should be. You should cover Brian and he covers you."


Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
1Peter 4:8


I thought of the bed as our MARRIAGE.....How wonderful it would be to remember to COVER my husband, even when he is grumpy, even when he isn't "perfect," even when I am offended, even when he hurts my feelings.... to extend grace to him.


And, when we are working TOGETHER on "life"- parenting, finances, taking care of our home- how much smoother it works to work together..hand in hand, side by side, helping the OTHER person with HIS "side of the bed."




Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work:


If one falls down, his friend (spouse) can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! -Ecclesiastes 4:9-10



God has brought us together to become ONE with our husbands. And, like our beautiful bed, how lovely we are when, working together, covering the other's side, we "make a bed."


This is a plaque that hangs in our bathroom. Because we see it everyday, walking past it hundreds of times, we may not notice it. But, I want to take the time to read it and pray it DAILY!




Lord, help us to remember when we first met and the strong love that grew between us. To work that love into practical things so nothing can divide us. We ask for words both kind and loving and hearts always ready to ask forgiveness as well as forgive.


Dear Lord we put our marriage into your hands.

A Letter to the Graduate



Dear Graduate,





Congratulations! God is proud of you. It may be hard to believe you are graduating and entering into a new season of life. This is a new beginning, and as each adventure unfolds, every wrinkle in it will be more exciting than the last! I hope you are making faith a priority in your life.






Isaiah 41:31 says “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not grow faint.” I know, Graduate, with God by your side, that you will soar on wings like eagles!



And, of course, at this exciting, sometimes scary time of your life, it is wonderful to remember that God has a SPECIAL plan for you. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord. “Plans for hope and a future. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you.” God has a special plan and purpose for your life. In fact, Graduate, God has had this plan for you from the beginning of creation! Paul says in Ephesians 1:4-6, “For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. He chose YOU, Graduate. In love, He predestined us to be adopted as His sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will- to the praise of His glorious grace which He has freely given us in the One He loves (Jesus).” Peter says, “You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness and into his wonderful light.” (1Peter 2:9) God loves you! YOU ARE A CHILD OF THE MOST HIGH GOD! Isaiah 43:1 says, “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are MINE!” Never forget, you are God’s child- His Beloved. Isn’t that cool?!






Graduate, I want you to hold on to God’s love as you go away to school or begin life as an "adult." Life will be very different. You will be “free”- free to make your own choices and your own decisions. You will decide how you live your daily life. God says in Jeremiah 6:16, “Stand at the crossroads and look. Ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.” Jesus says in Matt. 11:28-30, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and LEARN FROM ME, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” So, Graduate, when you are burdened and you do have to make choices and decisions- go to Jesus!



There will be many “crossroads” you will come to Graduate. You will face many trials and temptations. I wish it weren’t so, but it is. But, you will learn from your trials and temptations, and they will contribute to your character building! Whether you succeed or fail during your trial, God always brings valuable life lessons from it. James says (James 1:2-4), “Consider it pure joy, my brothers when you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” So, to mature and be complete, you MUST face trials. And then, (verse 12), “Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life God has promised to those who love Him.”




You will be tempted, Graduate, by alcohol, drugs, and sex. You will have to choose every time which direction you will go. Deuteronomy says that you will have to make choices. God says, “Now, what I am commanding you today is not too difficult. It is not up in Heaven, so that you have to ask someone to ascend to it to proclaim it to you. Nor is it beyond the sea, so that you have to ask someone to cross the sea to bring it back to proclaim it to you. No, the word is very near you. It is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it. See, today I set before you life and prosperity, or death and destruction. For I command you today to love the Lord with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. (Jesus later adds and with your MIND), to keep his commands, and to walk in His ways. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to His voice, and hold fast to Him.”






Just remember that you are not alone. Even at times when you feel alone, or you feel like you are the only one who believes this, remember that you are NEVER alone! God is with you, and He gives the Holy Spirit to help you. Ephesians tells us, “Having believed (in Jesus as Christ), you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession- to the praise of His glory!” Graduate, you were marked by that seal! You have the Holy Spirit living inside of you! And, it is not some wimpy spirit! Oh, no! 2Timothy says, “You were not given a spirit of timidity or fawning fear, but a Spirit of POWER, OF LOVE, SOUND MIND, AND SELF-CONTROL!" Isn’t that cool?




You don’t have to rely on your own will or your own strength, (or strength from professors or friends) but you have the strength of the MOST HIGH GOD LIVING INSIDE OF YOU. Philippians 4 says, “I can do ALL things through Christ, who strengthens me!” You can’t always make wise choices in your own strength, but you can through Jesus, by the power of the Holy Spirit! Isn’t that AMAZING?



I’ll never forget my 1st night at college. My roommate was my very best friend. We had been friends since 4th grade, and I thought I really knew her. We went to a party our first night at school. I left the party and went back to the dorm before her. I had drank way too much, and passed out on my bed. Well, when I woke up the next morning, she wasn’t there. I was so scared. I didn’t know what happened to her. I didn’t know what I should do. Should I call the police? Should I call her mom? I didn’t know what had happened to her.





I was so naive- it never even crossed my mind she would stay out all night. I didn’t even know we were ALLOWED to do that! Well, she was OK. She had decided to stay the night at the place where the party was. She had met a guy there. I never asked if they had sex. I was just so shocked that she felt comfortable to be out alone. Well, I became “educated” very quickly to “normal” college life and made so many poor choices. I am so thankful that my husband was there, too. We weren’t married yet, but were engaged. I know if I had been “single” at college I would have made so many choices that I would have regretted.




You see, at the time, partying is so fun. “Everybody” parties, and goes wild. It seems normal. It seems so exciting, so glamorous. Temptation is always exciting and “fun.” If it weren’t why would we sin? If the apple in the Garden had been wormy and rotten, Eve would never have taken a bite. But, it was luscious and seductive and enticing and inviting.






College is exciting, and it feels like you’re so “grown up” and in control of your life. I felt so “in control.” But, there were many times I was so out of control. I made so many stupid choices. I put myself in danger so many times. It is only by the grace of God that I wasn’t raped or hurt. I thank God that He was watching over me. God is good. Even though I abandoned Him during those years, He never abandoned me. He sent many angels to watch over me. God gives us the Holy Spirit to help us through these times. Paul says in 1Corinthians 10:13, “No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful. He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.






Isn’t that awesome? God gives us an escape route to help us get out. God will be helping you through! But, you have to take God with you. When I went to school, I took a vacation from my faith (although it was very weak to begin with). My professors, my friends, the “world” had such an impact on me. They, not my faith, controlled me and my behaviors. But, the Bible says, “Above all else, (above EVERYTHING- classes, relationships, professors’ teachings, TV shows, politics, news media- above ALL else) guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.” Proverbs 4:23. Fill your heart daily with God’s word and prayer so that you may have a wellspring of life within you!





I have always been on a quest for knowledge. I was always the “geek” who lived for school. I was always on the dean’s list and enjoyed the challenge of getting all A’s. I have loved acquiring knowledge and research. I get a thrill walking through the library. Essay tests were my favorite, so that I could show off how much I knew! So, when I went to college, I soaked in everything (except God’s Word). I also was performance driven, and success orientated. I wanted to please all of my teachers. I wanted their approval and acceptance. Whatever they said, I took at face value. I never questioned. I learned that to do well, I needed to conform. So, I just absorbed and conformed. But Paul says in Romans 12:2, “Do not conform to patterns of this world. Instead by transformed by the renewing of your mind.”





Unfortunately, my mind was transformed to reflect the ideals and attitudes of my collegiate experience. By the time I graduated, I had acquired much knowledge and “understanding.” Of course, I had gotten it from professors, media, and my friends. When I left school, I had a set of ideas that I thought were so intelligent and “in touch.” But, by studying God’s Word and growing in my relationship with Him, I see how WRONG I was!




Graduate, you will need to fill your heart and mind with God’s Word so that you can discern what is right and true. You will meet many people at school with different religious beliefs than yours. Many of them will be your favorite teachers. This may confuse you, or make you question your own beliefs and the Truth of God’s Word. Sometimes you may feel foolish for trusting in Jesus. (Notice I said JESUS, not God. For many will believe in “God”, but it will be their own idea of “god”- a god who fits in to THEIR wishes or thoughts of how a “god” should act or believe.)


YOU MUST STAY ALERT!





The Bible has so much to say about the world’s “wisdom.” Graduate, this “wisdom” will SEEM so right and so true. It will make you question your beliefs; it will make you question the Bible and its authenticity and validity. The Bible says in 1Corinthians : “ For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing (unbelievers), but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” And, “Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?” And, “This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.” And, “Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up."





There are many “wise men” at school who will question your faith, who will try to make you feel inferior, less intelligent, and foolish for your beliefs. But, remember, Graduate, God has given you the Truth and the Truth has set you free! Again, be alert! Don’t take anything at “face value.” Measure the “facts” against God’s Word. And, remember, God has already CHOOSEN you! It is not an accident you are where you are. God will empower you, enable you, and work through you, if you allow Him to, Graduate.



I kneel before God and pray for you Graduate from Ephesians,


“I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints (other believers), to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know that this love that surpasses knowledge- that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”

Do you run?


Do you run? I have NEVER run in my life. I have walked, including power walking for years. In college I worked out in the gym daily, doing aerobics, step aerobics, stair steppers, treadmills, and various weights- both "free" weights and machines.

But, I have never RUN.

It's not that I didn't WANT to run. I have always envied runners when I see them. I longed to be able to run with long strides, sweating, arms flowing. And, it seems that runners perform the activity with such ease!

I have always had a "vision" of me running and a dream of someday running in a marathon. But, every time I tried to run, I would take a few strides, my legs would start burning, and I would just quit.

I had a mindset that I couldn't do it. I used excuses like, "My body type just doesn't fit with running." I kept telling myself that I couldn't DO IT. That all changed about a week ago when my friend challenged me to add running to my workout routine. She came with me and we began the run side by side.


After about two minutes, I told her I just couldn't run any longer. I began to slow down. She told me, "Don't stop! Keep going! You can do it!"

And....I could!

Every time I began to slow down, she would encourage me to continue. She wouldn't let me give up. She would not allow me to tell myself that it was impossible.


We ran around a track. We ran against the wind. We ran uphill. And, I found I COULD do it!





Do you have an "I can't do it!" mentality with anything in your spiritual life?





Have you made excuses, told yourself it is impossible, thought your situation is hopeless?





God is telling you, just like my friend, "You can do it! Don't quit! It IS possible!"


With God, all things are possible. Matthew 19:26


I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Philippians 4:13


I have to tell you, two days later I was SORE. My muscles ached.

The same is true when we "run" spiritually. Our spiritual muscles will be sore. But, I found that the next time I ran it was EASIER. And, it felt great! The more we "work out" our spiritual muscles, it will get easier and it will FEEL GREAT!


My friend encouraged me and really helped me to continue to push myself. Again, the same is true spiritually. When we have an authentic friendship built upon the foundation of Christ, we can encourage one another...."spurring one another on" in our faith walks. (Hebrews 10:25)



....let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Hebrews 12:1


Running takes perseverance. But, spiritual "running" also takes perseverance. We must not get discouraged when we hit obtacles, but stay steadfast with our eyes on Him. And, like that track where I began my first run- hills, curves, and all- our spiritual track will have curves and hills, and the wind blowing against us. But, we can have a confident peace because the race "is marked out for us." God has created the "track." And, He is running with us side by side.





Thank You, Lord, that I don't have to give up when running my race. I can trust in You. I can lean on You. Thank You that You encourage me. Thank You, Lord, that when my hope is in You, I will run and NOT grow weary. Help me, Lord, to run this race with perseverance with my eyes set on You. In Jesus' Name I pray. Amen.

I hate computers!


This is a very frustrating post to write! I am on my friend's computer (thanks, Melissa!!!), grateful for her generosity in letting me use it. Otherwise, I would be at the public library trying to figure out their system.


I have been without a computer all week- it won't log on to the Internet. (This explains my absence in bloggyland for those of you who regularly visit my blog.) It has been extremely frustrating because I had been borrowing my husband's laptop since my laptop power cord died two weeks ago. Yes, I have "blown" two computers in two weeks. God, are you trying to tell me something?


"Why are you so downcast, O my soul?"



Today, I have felt at my breaking point- DESPERATE, ALONE, and DEPRESSED. All week I have prayed and prayed and prayed over the computer and situation. I have pleaded with God to intervene and help. I have rebuked the devil. ...And, I have been angry with God.

Why won't He answer me?


Or why does every door seem to slam closed in my face? I keep trying the computer, believing that God will work a miracle, but the situation is still the same. I mean, if God can part the Red Sea, raise people from the dead, and crumble palace walls with a simple trumpet blow, then a computer is "small potatoes" in comparison!


And, yet.....no computer.


I have cried over this computer. Cried over a COMPUTER! A COMPUTER!!!

But, it is not the computer that has me feeling so abandoned. It is that God hasn't or won't answer my prayer. It is that I am desperate and I can't hear Him. It is that I want Him to make it "OK" and He isn't.


I know it is silly.


Suffering....over a computer!

There are many who are suffering so much more than I am. I have a sweet friend who SUFFERED with cancer last year....and lost her battle with it. Her family still grieves her loss. There are at least a dozen families I know who are suffering through a divorce. Families ripped apart. Two families at my children's school are suffering with cancer. Parents who would do anything to transfer the pain their children are experiencing unto themselves instead. My friend is a foster parent to a baby who has only half of her brain that has developed. She will never see, walk, or feed herself. She has hundreds of seizures a day. Many families are suffering because of lost income.


And, I am so "down" because of a computer????


But, it is the absence I feel from my God. I know He hasn't abandoned me. I know He is right here. But, I don't "feel" Him. Can't "hear" Him.


It doesn't matter how "big" or "little" the trial is, or what God uses when He is refining us, it still hurts. I have had my share of "big" trials- child abuse, marriage struggles, moving away from family, two miscarriages.....But, whenever we feel separated from the Father, it is difficult.

Whenever our faith is tested, it is difficult.


Today when I was walking, I listened to the Ginny Owens song, "If You Want Me To" over and over. The words are incredible.

The pathway is broken and the signs are unclear. And I don't know the
reason You brought me here.

Why God? But, because You love me...



I'm gonna walk through the valley if You want me to.



Lord, even though this is painful, I will walk this road.

'Cause I'm not who I was when I took my first step. And, I'm clinging to
the promise You're not through with me yet.



Thank You, Lord, that You are using this trial to grow me, to refine me, to draw me closer to You....


So if all of these trials bring me closer to You, I will go through the
fire if You want me to.

Lord, I don't want to "waste" this trial....I want to learn what You are trying to teach me. I want to draw closer to You. I am desperate for You.


It may not be the way I would have chosen.


No, Lord! I would not have chosen to have these headaches and disappointments. I would have chosen a much easier way....


You never said it would be easy. You only said I would
never go alone.


No matter what it "feels" like, I am not alone. You haven't left me. You are walking me through.


So, when the whole world turns against me and I'm all by myself, and I can't
hear You answer my cries for help, I remember the suffering Your love put You
through and I will go through the valley if You want me to.


So here I am, like Jacob, wrestling with God. And, I have told Him I am not letting go until He blesses me.
I am not letting go...until we go through this valley.
I am not letting go until He refines me.
I am not letting go until I have grown closer to Him.
I am not letting go until I hear His voice!


Father, I know in this life, we walk through the fire, we will go through the valley. Jesus tells us that there will be suffering, but to have heart- He has overcome the world! So, I choose to lift my shield of faith and put on my garment of praise. I sing praises to You. And, like Job, I say BLESSED BE THE NAME OF THE LORD! In Jesus' precious Name I pray. Amen.


Since I wrote this devotion, Brian's computer "problem" turned out to be a minor glitch with our router....Thank You, God! Happy to say, I am now back to blogging...

Am I Beautiful?



OK, time to be completely honest. I have a quiz for you to take to think about where you are with this “beautiful thing” we as women are faced with everyday. Don’t worry, no one will see your answers and you won’t be graded by your responses.

1. Have you ever ripped up a photo that wasn’t flattering?

2. Have you ever “hid” from someone at the grocery store because you weren’t put together or looking your best?

3. Have you ever found yourself riveted to the TV in front of an informational or the Home Shopping network debating about spending money on a “miracle beauty product?”

4. Have you ever avoided looking at your reflection in the mirror because you were unhappy with it?

5. Have you ever called yourself words like, “ugly, disgusting, gross…”?

6. Have you ever battled feelings of inadequacy?


I first gave this quiz to a group of women at a conference where I was speaking. I was surprised by their reactions- lots of laughing and nodding to first three questions. I was glad because I thought I may have been the only one to hide from someone at the grocery store! But, sadly, by the tears in the room, I understood that many women had also answered “yes” to the last three questions.

Sad to say, I have answered “yes” to all of these questions at one time or another. I have battled with accepting myself and seeing myself as God sees me. I didn’t want to admit it to myself, or to God that I had these feelings of inadequacy.

Beth Moore says, “Unless we find our identity in Christ, Christian women are just as prone to insecurities as unbelievers.”

I wonder how many of us, as Christian women have felt NOT GOOD ENOUGH? How many of us have been caught up in this trap of the WORLD, looking for our self worth in our outward appearance, and many times not measuring up, feeling inadequate?

We can have these feelings of inadequacy in many different areas of our lives. For some of us, it IS trying to reach that outward perfection that the world claims we must reach in order to be worthy. For others of us, we have felt inadequate or not quite “good enough” in other areas of our lives. I’m not a good enough mother, or daughter. I’m not a good enough friend. I’m not a good enough wife. I’m not good enough because I don’t have a husband…


And, for many of us, seeking our self worth in these areas has led us into bondage, robbing us of joy and peace and confidence.


I know this is NOT my heritage! I am a daughter to the King of Kings, chosen, adopted, accepted in the Beloved, precious in His sight. He sees me as beautiful! These are HIS Words, not mine!

But, I had to come to a place to receive this. I knew these truths in my HEAD, but I was not living them out, truly believing. I was not walking in joy, in freedom and victory.

Recently, God began to reveal to me that my concern with my appearance and feelings of inadequacy had been a stronghold in my life, and He wanted to release me. He doesn’t want ANYTHING to keep us from experiencing all He has for us. God doesn’t want ANYTHING to keep us from being the women He has created us to be. That is what strongholds do in our lives- keep us from victory and keep us from living out our identity in Christ.

I wish I could say that this is the first stronghold I needed to be delivered from, but the truth is that since childhood I had gone to other things in my life, worldly pursuits, for comfort and security and satisfaction. I had not yet learned to depend on Christ, to cling to Him, to allow Him to fill me, heal me, and deliver me from the trials and tragedies of life.

Like every little girl I dreamed of being a beautiful princess, but, like so many others, my childhood wasn’t a fairy tale. My father died in a boating accident when I was a baby. My stepfather was an alcoholic and abusive to us. As a child and adolescent, I felt broken, unloved by a father, and scared, so, I hid myself. I turned to food to comfort me. It became my “safe place.” Whenever I felt scared, sad, unloved, overwhelmed, or vulnerable, I would go to food for my escape and my comfort. Usually I would grab something sweet, and hide myself away, either watching TV or reading. I never talked about how I felt, but just buried myself, denying my feelings and losing myself in stories of other people- either in TV or books.

I wouldn’t overeat in front of my friends. Only in secret. And, that is what the enemy encourage us to do- hide. He deceives us into keeping our secrets hidden in the dark.


But, we can never be healed until we expose these things to God’s light, which heals and restores.

By the time I hit junior high, I did not want to be overweight anymore. I wanted boys to like me. I did not want to be teased. So the summer before 8th grade, I stopped eating. I began exercising. My weight dropped quickly and dramatically. And, I began to enjoy the attention I received with my new found body. Everyone commented on how good I looked. Boys began to notice me. I found something new to fill this emptiness inside of me- the attention and the praise I received.


Like food, when the “feeling” was gone, I would seek it out again. So, now my safe place became my appearance. As long as I was “skinny” and looked good on the outside, I felt like I was OK. Exercise soon became another stronghold. I needed it to maintain the thin body. This continued through high school and college.

My personal worth was directly related to my outward appearance. I guess you could say my “hang-ups” could be attributed to my childhood. I could put the blame on my broken childhood, the absence of father, abuse by a stepfather, the desperate feelings of needing to find that male affection and attention.

True, these things created a longing in me, but instead of turning to God I turned to the worldly pursuits to fill me. Instead of filling me up and giving me a satisfaction, they only created more of longing, a deeper hole to be filled. That is how it always is when we look to the world to fill us up. We may feel a temporary satisfaction, but the need, desire, and longing comes back fiercer than before.

With this deeper hole needing to be filled, I found another pursuit to make me feel accepted- working hard and achieving success.

I needed to be the best.

I needed to be perfect.

I continually compared myself to everyone around me.

Then, as a married woman and and stay at home mother, I turned not only to perfection to "fill me", but also activities. I was busy being busy, and this made me feel important.


Wow! I had set up such strongholds in my life. But, I didn’t think there was anything wrong. In fact, I probably thought I had it all together! Even though I would have considered myself a Christian, I DID NOT have an intimate relationship with the Lord. I prayed every night before bed and we went to church. Instead of feeding on God, hungering after Him and pursuing Him, I was feeding on these worldly pursuits.

I was looking for my self worth in all of these things, but never quite measuring up. I never felt complete. When I could not take off my pregnancy weight after our second child, Ashley, was born, I became depressed. Now, remember, for years, I had sought my worth in my outward appearance. As I continued to seek comfort in food, I gained extra weight instead of losing it when I returned from the hospital. I literally did not want to go out of the house! This was probably because none of my clothes fit. By the time Ashley was 6 months old, and I could only wear my husband’s sweat pants or maternity clothes!


I was desperate.


I heard about a bible study that helped you lose weight, so I began facilitating it in my home. Wow! Did God open my eyes through that bible study! It taught about strongholds and filling up on other things instead of filling up on a relationship with God. I learned that I needed to seek a relationship with Jesus, instead of filling my heart with all of these worldly pursuits.


God wants our hearts to be totally devoted to Him, so He will help us to work these things out, setting us free to be the women He created us to be! It is only in this relationship with my Precious Savior that I find my true worth. I had never experienced this RELATIONSHIP with the living God before! Yes, I had gone to church and prayed, but to make Him the Lord of my life, my strength, my redeemer, my deliverer, my very best friend, and my 1st love was completely new to me. To experience His presence daily, to be intimate with Him, to commune with Him daily…


Whew! It changed my life forever!


So over the next eight years, God continued to reveal to me strongholds in my life, areas of bondage that were keeping me from living in victory- keeping me from living the abundant life God had already given to me. He helped work through the process of being set free, living in complete liberty and joy. Thankfully, it has been a process and He slowly has revealed each area He wants to refine. God had so much work to do in my heart, that if He showed me everything at once, I probably would have had a breakdown!


So, He would heal an area and I would think, “Whew! That’s done!” And then, He would reveal another area that He was going to refine. One of the toughest strongholds was this idea of being beautiful according to the world's standards, and defining myself in that, instead of believing who I am in Christ.


Honestly, talking about this area of bondage is not easy. I mean, come on, I’m a Christian woman! I shouldn’t be worried about how I look- that is so shallow, so vain.


For a long time I denied that I even had this stronghold. I stuffed all of it down and refused to deal with it. But, when there is something deep down, God will bring it to the surface for us to deal with it. And, that is what He did. God began showing me that I cared too much about how I looked through a few very HUMBLING experiences.

I knew I couldn’t avoid this any longer and I needed to get honest with myself and with God about how I was feeling and what I was believing.


There was an area of bondage. I wasn’t walking in liberty, and this stronghold was stealing my joy. I knew (in my head) that because I am in Christ, I am complete and should be feeling completely confident in Him. God continued to prod at my heart. He continued to turn up the heat, so to speak.


There was one point I would not look at my reflection in the mirror. I hated what I saw. I saw myself as flawed, as disgusting. My circumstances seemed to be getting worse and worse. I finally cried out to God. He showed me was that was NOT how HE saw me. He reminded me that I am His beautiful creation. I had bought into the enemy’s lies and deception, and the world’s illusions. But, my precious God wanted me to see myself as He sees me- His princess, lovely, precious, beautiful.




I am beautiful because Jesus is beautiful.


It is only in a relationship with my precious Savior that I will feel truly worthy. I have a longing, a desire to be loved, to feel safe, to be the princess… It is ONLY Jesus that can satisfy these longings and desires. Because of my relationship with the only One who can fill me, Jesus Christ, I can see myself as lovely, precious, beautiful.


Well, this was just the start! God had a lot of work to do in my heart and mind. There were many years of lies and deception that had been planted that needed to be crushed and replaced with Truth. I learned that I needed to name these lies, and to confess to God that I had been seeking my worth and identity NOT in who I was in Christ, but in how I looked. I began naming the lies.


“You have to be skinny to be beautiful. You need others to notice and compliment you on how you look. Your identity and worth is tied to how you look.”


These were the lies I had bought into. As I continued to press deeper, I found the root lie was “You are not good enough.” I had believed my heart wasn’t good enough and my body wasn’t good enough.


But identifying the lies is not enough.


We need to stand in agreement with God and replace the lies with His Truth. Truth is what God’s Word says- not what other people have spoken over you, or what the magazines say or TV, or even your own feelings. Truth is His Word. So, I asked God to begin revealing His Truth to me from His Word.


1Corinthians 6:19-20 was the 1st thing He brought to me. It says, “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at price. Therefore, honor God with your body.” I was convicted that I was not honoring God with my body when I hated it and was “down on it.”


Then God brought me to Psalm 139:13-14, “For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” I began to accept that I am God’s creation. He created me! He formed me with His hands! He created my body. And, I remembered what He said about His creation: It is good. And, what He said about man: It is very good. Just like His creation of the stars and the sunsets, the ocean, and beautiful flowers, I need to praise Him because I am His creation, made in the image of the CREATOR!


And, God brought 1Peter 3:3-4 to my mind, “Your beauty should not come from outward adornment…. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.” My beauty should come from the peace that only comes through a relationship with God. My beauty should come from being confident in my God and who I am in Christ. My spirit will be gentle and quiet when I trust Him with all my heart, surrendering every part of myself to Him.


I needed to be practical about tearing down lies, and replacing them with truth. So, whenever these lies would pop back into my head, I had to take “every thought captive in Jesus” immediately. I had to practice this daily, many times during the day. I would say, “Tracy, you are beautiful to God. No matter how the world sees you, God sees you as beautiful. Because of Jesus, I am a display of His splendor. What could be more beautiful than that? My true beauty comes from a quiet and gentle spirit. Lord, make me a woman who “fears the Lord.” Make me a woman who puts You above everything else.


The next place God brought me in my journey was the realization that I needed to change my mindsets and attitudes about beauty. The first thing God had me do was think about the times in my life I had felt “beautiful.” I use the word “beautiful,” but you may use other words like, “satisfied, confident, comfortable with yourself, special, set apart, content in who I am.”

Times in my life came right away to my mind, without even thinking about it.

When I was a bride on my wedding day, when I gave birth to my children, and when I was pregnant were the times that I had felt most beautiful. As I did this “exercise,” I realized that the times I felt most beautiful didn’t make sense logically. Anyone who has given birth knows that physically, it is not the most flattering time of your life. And, being pregnant??? This is a time I am definitely NOT skinny!

So, why did I feel beautiful? I realized that the times in my life when I felt most beautiful didn’t really have anything to do with my outward appearance. I felt beautiful when it didn’t have anything to do with my outward appearance. I think of Mother Theresa. By the world’s standards, she was not beautiful. But, we would all agree she was one of the most beautiful women who ever lived. I am sure we have all seen interviews with models or actresses who are outwardly gorgeous. But, they tell the interviewer that they don’t see themselves as beautiful, but flawed or even ugly.

Beauty, true beauty, does not come from outward appearances, like Peter tells us in 1Peter. But, that is not what the world tells us, is it? That is not the message we have heard all of our lives. From the time we were children, we have been bombarded with the messages that we need to look a certain way to be OK, that the mark of beauty is perfection. We are bombarded with outward appearance messages from magazines and TV commercials.

Get great skin. Get smooth sexy legs. Look 10 years younger. Look 10 lbs. thinner. Have the hottest body ever.


The messages from the world are not about the true beauty God teaches us about, but a perverted beauty, often impossible to attain. But, God has always told us the opposite! When Samuel was looking for the new anointed king from Jesse’s sons, he looked for the biggest and the strongest son. But, God rebuked Samuel, saying, “The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart.”

We have got to stop buying into the “world’s” standard of beauty! We need to stop filling our hearts and minds with these messages. We often don’t think there is anything wrong with reading magazines or watching TV programs that promote this thinking, but what happens is that we slowly begin to accept these messages, believing them.

This is why Paul tells us Romans 12:2, “Do not conform any longer to the patterns of the world, (so do not accept this thinking, these mindsets, do not conform to the world’s ideals), but be transformed by the renewing of our minds.

This is HUGE! We need to be aware and alert as we are in this world. If we are watching TV, we need to be aware of our thoughts and what we are believing. It may mean that we need to turn off the TV, and stop reading the magazines for awhile. We may need to take a “media fast.” It may mean that we need to remove ourselves from those influences. We want God to transform us by the renewing of our minds. Our minds cannot be renewed while still being conformed to the world’s ideals.

God loves us more than we could ever know or imagine. God sees us as beautiful. It doesn’t matter what the world has told you, or what other people have told you about your appearance.

He says, “you are beautiful to me.” Hear His precious words to you-

Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.
(Psalm 34:5)

“The King is enthralled with your beauty.” Psalm 45:11

“How beautiful you are, my darling! Oh, how beautiful! Your voice is sweet and your face is lovely.” -Song of Songs 1:15-2:14

Finally, beauty is not wrong. God is the creator of beauty. Look around, beauty is all around us in a sunset, in a flower, in a newborn baby’s face. Beauty is pleasing- to us and to God. God is the creator of beauty- His very being is beauty.


Is it wrong to want to look pretty? Is it wrong to wear make-up and curl your hair?

No!


It is when we let the WORLD’S definition of beauty define us that it becomes wrong. We are to find our beauty in who we are in Christ.

Father, we come to You and praise You. We thank You for the beauty that is all around us. You are beauty, God. Help us to see ourselves as You see us, “honored and precious in Your sight.” I pray You would heal any wounds we may have experienced in this area. In Jesus’ Name we pray.

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” Proverbs 31:30
