Don't Get Caught on the Wrong Side of the Driveway!

Check out these two tree lines at the end of our driveway, (this is taken looking towards the road). The pine trees on the left of the drive are tall strong and beautiful, but the ones on the right…not so much. In fact 2 of the 4 trees on the right have died and the ones remaining are not looking very healthy. They are obviously much smaller and weaker than their counterparts on the other side of the pavement.

To bring this point home I’ve asked my beautiful Lauren to pose in front of one on each side.

Little tree on right side

Big tree on left side

These trees were all planted at the same time…why the difference?

This is why…

Note underground sprinkling pouring it’s blessing out on the trees on the left side of the drive, but the ones on the right are in a dry and parched land.

The only difference…water.

It reminds me of many faces I see. Why are some filled with life and hope while others dry and parched?
Water…or more directly, living water.

John 7:37-38
"If you are thirsty, come to me! 38 If you believe in me, come
and drink! For the Scriptures declare that rivers of living water will flow out
from within."
NLT

The Hebrew language calls “running” water “living” water because it is still in motion. How perfect is that?? It’s still moving…it’s living… teeming with life.

The love and life of God is living like that water. He is active in our lives. The constant motion of the water indicates a strong stream that bears down the opposition of doubts and fears that plague our thoughts. Thus, forming us into the person that He has called us to be.

Isaiah 55:1
"Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
NIV

Don’t get caught on the wrong side of the driveway, get yourself under that sprinkler girl!!! The living water flows…in His presence.

I echo what everyone else has said. Beautiful illustration and wonderful application...where the rubber meets the road. You are so good at expressing His truths. Blessings on your week end and the week to come.
