Cafe Chat

Dishes, laundry, dusting, making beds, cleaning the bathroom...
I am sure that these words evoke some emotion in all of us, for me these are NOT a few of my favorite things..
Nonetheless, these are all things that need to be done, and for the most part on a daily basis.
There is a verse in 1 Corinthians (10:31) that reads "So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." I have an ESV study bible, and the study note for that verse reads, "Every aspect of every Christian's life has the potential to honor God." So I think our tasks above could be included as things we can do to bring honor to God.
So today, I ask you how can we bring glory to God in the midst of the repetitive everyday tasks that we have to do? Give examples
Don't be surprised if you hear about me putting into practice some of the answers you all share :)
Blessings, Kim

I'm struggling with this right now. In fact, this morning I posted about my need to organize at our house. I know God is a God of order and to be a good steward of everthing He's entrusted to us I need to keep it organized, but I've been putting some things off. My first big project is going through my 1 year old's closet. She is now in 18-24 mo clothes and her closet is piled high with clothes from newborn on. I don't know why I let it get this bad. It's surely not the most important thing I need to do, but it needs to get done none the less. I think part of doing everthing to the glory of God is remembering that even these menial tasks are a part of our testimony to our family and to others in our lives. I think for many of us these menial tasks are training grounds for being responsible in the small things and not grumbling or complaining about them. If I can't handle keeping my baby's closet organized, how will I do at keeping our homeschool day running smoothly? If I can't manage my housework without grumbling and complaining, how am I likely to respond to major trials in life such as the illness or death of a loved one? OK, I'm convicted now. I'm going to start today. I think.

How do we bring glory to God in the repetitious daily acts? By not grumbling and complaining about the crumbs on the counter, the dishes left in the sink instead of being put in the dishwasher, jackets and coats left on chairs instead of being hung in the closet, etc. As we cleanup, give thanks to God that we have a husband and children to clean up after. There are women who are alone and would love to have some of the messes.
I haven't mastered the not complaining and being thankful part, I have to work on it daily.
