Proverbs 27:6 (New Living Translation)
Wounds from a sincere friend are better than many kisses from an enemy.

One of the things I love best about being a woman is the joy of friendship with other women. I think friendship is one of God’s wonderful blessings He gives to His children.

A true friend will tell us the truth even if it hurts. The verse above in Proverbs says that “wounds from a sincere friend are better than many kisses from an enemy”. We must too remember that we are to go to a friend and tell the truth in love. I believe anything we say to another should be said in love; love needs to be at the heart of why we share anything with another.

Many times in my life, I have been the recipient of hard words from a friend, but told with love in her heart for me. Even though what my friend shared may have been hard to hear, it was just what I needed to hear and God used her words to help me to see truth and to truly change.

So today, I ask you to share a time when a friend may have wounded you by speaking hard words to you, and even though you were hurt you realized it was the best and most loving thing he/she could have done. (If you can share the specifics that would be great, but if not feel free to use generalities).

Thanks so much for participating weekly…

Blessings, Kim

I love your blog and look forward to visiting often. Not sure if this is where I'm supposed to share this since this is my first visit, but I would love to share "a word fitly spoken" from a dear dear friend when I was younger that turned my life back around. I had been raised in a christian home but as young people tend to do (I was in my 20's), I had been "sewing wild oats". This dear Godly prayer warrior and I walked together at lunch every day and she (thank God) never minced words with me. She asked what I was doing for the week-end and I said that my husband and I were going to a club to dance, etc. She stopped walking, looked at me and said, "you know if Christ comes back He isn't going to come in there and get you don't you?" Talk about a "show stopper"! Needless to say that opened my eyes, turned my life around and stopped me from that activity. I still considered myself a christian because I never lost my love for the Lord but had not considered that until she spoke it to me that day. It set me back on a path that I've never regretted. Now I know that I will not be in places where Jesus would not be able to "reach" me. Although she didn't say it harshly, she did say it with love and between her (and of course my wonderful Godly mother who is living with the Lord now), I'm walking with the Lord again. I pray for friends like her for everyone, sometimes it takes just a simple sentence :) God bless all, look forward to interacting and meeting new sisters
