The Sting of Rejection

The Internet Cafe Welcomes Cynthia Eddie in for a cup!

I didn't come to reject the world; I came to save the world.

John 12:47 (The Message)

Rejection can have such a damaging impact on a person, especially if that person is not secure in their status or character. Rejection can stir up long forgotten memories of a time that should be left in the past.

To be rejected by someone is hurtful to say the least. It may have been a person you admired or a person you FULLY TRUSTED and they let you down!

This experience happened to me. I had a long-standing friendship with someone and one day they just shut me out for no apparent reason. It was hurtful and confusing. I sought an answer by email and by telephone but to no avail. I finally wrote a letter to the individual and still got no response.

OUCH, ANOTHER REJECTION. But GOD is good because the person came face to face with me (quite by accident!!) and I had the opportunity to ask questions and say what I had basically stated in the letter.

The person was quite uncomfortable and truly did not come clean with an appropriate answer that left me feeling DEJECTED. I went to God and prayed and cried and asked “what did I do?”

With time God gently showed me that we are connected with some people for life and others are just passing through. It took me a long time to accept this and realize that not everyone is is able to be a friend; some people are not able to be a friend because they may have luggage from their own past that inhibits this. True friendship is deep and many shy away from opening their hearts, past pain and hurts may be responsible for this.

Jesus was rejected many, many times.

He was rejected by the spiritual leaders in the temples.

He was rejected by the Romans.

He was rejected by one of His own disciples!

And He continues to be rejected today.

But He will never reject His own. We are the His flock; the sheep of his pasture.

IN THIS WORLD, WE WILL EXPERIENCE REJECTION BUT KNOWING THAT GOD LOVES ME UNCONDITIONALLY IS LIKE A SOOTHING BALM TO THE STING OF PAIN.

He’s the one who will never leave me or forsake me and because of His promise, I can follow the Master and continue to love despite the occasional stings.

Prayer for the Woman Who Has Been Rejected

Father, I ask you to bless every woman reading this prayer who has been rejected. I ask that the Holy Spirit minister to their heart and show them a new revelation of your love and power. Where there is pain, give her your peace and mercy.

Where there is self-doubt, release a renewed confidence through Your grace. Where there is anger, give her the strength to forgive. Lord, reveal yourself to each woman according to her need, show each woman that they are worthy in Your eyes, no matter what the situation may look like to them. Lord, lift her spirit and mend her heart. I pray this in the precious name of Jesus.

In Him,

Cynthia

Very wonderful. I too have been rejected by friends. It's so hurtful. But it's so good to have a reminder that sometimes friendships just aren't meant to be long-term, and that I should be relying on GOD for my companionship. :)

Perfect timing. I'm dealing with this with my teenage daughter who didn't get invited to a party. Rejection begins early and continues throughout our lives no matter our age. It is so hard to know how to comfort that hurt. Thanks for your words.

That was so good and a wonderful reminder because we all have experienced this rejection at some time in our lives. I have been experiencing it myself. It is hurtful and in the natural so hard to understand how one of God's kids could be so mean. But like you said it happened to Jesus, too. He reminded me that when people talk about me or treat me unkindly they are not just doing it to me but they are doing it to him as well....so thank you for sharing....it was so good. bless you

WOW, REJECTION DOES HURT!! I know what it's like first hand to be rejected/ignored!! PRAISE GOD, over the years I've grown to know who I am IN JESUS CHRIST and the sorry and hurt I use to feel for myself is no longer in existence. I now pray and feel sorry for the "rejector"; for in their hidden miseries and insecurities, they can't know what they're doing! I personally do not feel that I'm better than, but I AM BETTER OFF!! GOD BLESS!
