How Is Your Firewall Protection?

Computer hackers are vigilant in their efforts to create destructive devices. It seems like as soon as an old virus is removed from the Internet, a new one is out there.

Security software is great protection, but a computer bug occasionally breaks through. I usually don't notice it until the damage has already been done. More often than not, the reason a bug gets in is because we haven't updated our security software.

God warns us that Satan continually seeks to harm us. His intentions are to infiltrate, completely camouflaged and undetected, and destroy us.

"Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." Ephesians 5: 8

God doesn't just leave us with a warning. He gives us instructions and tools to detect, shield, and defeat Satan's tactics. He supplies his warriors with everything they need. Our problem is that we don’t “download,” if you will, what He offers us.

" Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. " Ephesians 6: 12

We leave ourselves vulnerable to Satan's devices by omitting part of God's Armor. God plainly tells us to put on the full armor of God.

"Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." Ephesians 6: 13-17

Any good computer programmer will tell you not to leave your computer unprotected. In order to keep your computer safe from hackers, you have to use all security software available and keep it updated.

The same is true for believers. We must put on the full armor and stay in God's Word and in prayer daily.

Unlike computer software, God's protection is never outdated or obsolete. His Promises and His Word endure forever.

Something to consider:

What piece of armor do you overlook?

Are you having a difficult time staying in prayer and devotion daily?
