Light to the World...

‭"‬You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.‭ ‬No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket.‭ ‬Instead,‭ ‬a lamp is placed on a stand,‭ ‬where it gives light to everyone in the house.‭ ‬In the same way,‭ ‬let your good deeds shine out for all to see,‭ ‬so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.‭" ~ ‬Matthew‭ ‬5:14-16‭ (‬NLT‭)
I grumble every morning when the alarm goes off.‭ ‬It is way too early for me to get going at‭ ‬4:30am‭ (‬maybe I should go to bed early than midnight‭)‬.‭ ‬After my first grumble session,‭ ‬I start praying that God would use me‭ ‬throughout the day to be His light in the darkened world.‭ ‬Praying that He will keep me steadfast to what I believe‭ ‬and know as truth.‭ ‬I thank Him that His mercies are new every day; that He,‭ ‬through His blood, ‬has set me free from the bondage‭ ‬of sin.

Once again,‭ ‬Christianity is attacked by the secular world.‭ ‬Many will buy into the lie that Jesus‭' ‬tomb was found with His bones still in it.‭ ‬It must be truth,‭ ‬since‭ '‬credible‭' ‬people found His tomb--‭'‬credible‭' ‬people made this documentary.‭ ‬Will the audience‭ ‬do some‭ ‬research on their own to see if the documentary is indeed truth‭?‬ Will they find out that this so called‭ '‬Jesus tomb‭' ‬was already discovered in March of‭ ‬1980‭ ‬and the BBC had a documentary about it‭ ‬1996‭? ‬Will the secular world research why millions of people have put their trust in Jesus and His resurrection‭? ‬Maybe,‭ ‬maybe not...

‭"‬Blessed are you when people insult you,‭ ‬persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.‭ ‬Rejoice and be glad,‭ ‬because great is your reward in heaven,‭ ‬for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.‭" ~ ‬Matthew‭ ‬5:11-12‭ (‬NIV‭)
You see,‭ ‬the evil one always tries to discredit what Jesus has done for us.‭ ‬That Christ died for our sins so we can be reconciled to God.‭ ‬This is why it is so important that we are a‭ ‬light in this world.‭ ‬We are the living proof that through Christ's death and resurrection lives can be changed.‭ ‬I know‭ ‬this‭ ‬is true for me.‭ ‬His Spirit has changed my life--from the inside out.‭ ‬He continues to do so every single day...

Lord of Heaven and Earth. I praise Your Holy name. You gave Your life for me. Some say that You never rose; I know that You are alive. Your Holy Spirit lives within me. Although I grumble every single morning, I am thankful that You give me a reason to get up and proclaim Your fame. In the precious name of Jesus ~ Amen...

Amen to your beautiful prayer, Iris. My faith has not wavered one millimeter and in fact, gathers strength as the secular world tries to attack it.

Iris, great post. What never ceases to amaze me is that people forget that secular science creates theories, people swallow the theories, then in a few years, the scientists (or archaeologists) withdraw their theories. Theories that directly contradict scripture are sinking sand. We have to cling to the solid rock.

I just heard about that movie yesterday. We put so much faith in things that fade. People want to have something to cling to and scintific "breakthroughs" seem to be a good handhold to grasp. But Linda's right, what is "fact" today may be "fiction" tomorrow. Thanks for your reminder today that God's Word is eternal and true!

Beautiufl Iris. I sure hope everyone questions what they hear on TV and do their own research to find the truth. Because Jesus says, seek and you will find Me.

Blessings.

Iris, that post was so timely with this movie being on TV this week. I was proud of my teenager who said, "They find the tomb of Jesus every couple of years." So many people won't research it--like you said. Just because the producer is friends with Leonardo Decaprio, they'll assume it must be true. God whispered a great post in your ear. Thanks for listening to that nudge. :)

You are so right Iris...We are wise to keep our eyes wide open to what the motivation behind these types of programs are...purely financial. Watched Tom Brokaw interview the film maker and basically rip his journalism to shreds. I was pretty proud of 'ole Tom!

That crafty ol' enemy keeps himself quite busy, doesn't he?

The name of Jesus will be glorified in all of this. I can't wait to see it happen!
