Clothed in Majesty

"Soak me in your laundry and I'll come out clean,
scrub me and I'll have a snow-white life."
Psalm 51:7

Busy cleaning the bathroom counter, I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror.

Magic Eraser in hand (a miraculous cleaning tool!), Clorox wipes at attention and my yellow broom at ease against the door I was struck by the ridiculousness of it all.

Not just the ridiculous notion that I, a self-proclaimed princess separated from her real family at birth, was cleaning.

But that I was scrubbing the bathroom clean while wearing silk.

Beautiful, pink silk.

Suddenly I thought, “I shouldn’t be doing this.”

At all. And especially not in silk.

As I stared at myself in the mirror battling my new found identity crisis the Lord whispered into the deepest part of me, “Why not? I do this for you.

I stood still for a moment basking in the imagery of my Heavenly Father clothed in majesty washing me, one covered in mire, clean.

It took my breath away. It humbled me. It set my heart on fire anew with purpose and passion for His renown.

And so, in my pink silk, I scrubbed and scrubbed.

Aware of my Savior’s Majesty.

Awed at the thought of His Glorious Hands making me and you new.

The Lord reigns. He is clothed with majesty.

Psalm 93:1

Beautiful revelation and yet, I still would have removed my silk first. Maybe that shows a lack of faith in His ability to protect what He finds important...

I'm beginnign to feel the urge to go clean something (not like me at all)

I love that you kept your silk on and did what needed to be done. What a beautiful and inspiring moment for you!

Isn't it interesting how God teaches us lessons at the most unusual times? He is the One who shouldn't have to do what He did but how grateful I am that He loves us so much. It kind of puts things into much better perspective, doesn't it?

And I too love that Magic Eraser; great for my white doors in the house. Now I think there could be a spiritual lesson with Magic Eraser, don't you think? That is what Jesus did for us; wipes us clean. Amen to that.

Wonderfu simple example to remember, Kristen. Thank you for that.
