Cafe Chat May 23, 2009

This week's Chat will be a little different, but I hope you will leave today feeling challenged in your spirit. A couple of days ago I watched a video that was posted on my friend's Facebook page. After viewing the video I started thinking about how I live out my walk with Jesus. I hope today you will do the same thing.

Before you answer the question, please click here to view a 3-4 minute video of pastor, Francis Chan (Make sure you are viewing the "Balance Beam" video).

In light of the Francis Chan video, how do you live out your Christian walk with Jesus? Do you always play it safe? Or do you take risks?

In one or two sentences, what do you want to be said of you, and how you lived out your life for Jesus when your time on earth is finished.

In Him,
Kim

I love Francis Chan. He is so good at communicating the things of God. His balance beam parody is a perfect modern day version of the parable of the talents. Do I take risks? I do, but not enough of them. I've come to realize I need to be a person who strives to do the best I can with the talents I've been given. The most important thing is glorifying God with my life by loving everyone I meet regardless of whether or not I want to or whether or not I like them. How do I accomplish this? By telling them about Jesus, by showing them the love of Christ, by proselytizing, by telling them the truth with love. We have a story to tell. We know the way to heaven and we should be telling others the Way. When I die, I want people to say I lived for the glory of God, sharing Him with everyone I met along the way, loving all of them unconditionally. And when I stand before God I want to say to Him, You gave me this many talents and I went out and used them for Your glory. I didn't bury them and hide in my house because I was afraid. If I say I love God, but I don't share Him with everyone I meet, I have deceived myself and I should be pitied. If I say I know the Way to heaven, but I don't share the Way with others, then really what love do I have?

Took forever to be able to view the video on my slow dial-up (yes, slow, 28k max) but it was worth it. My post is up and I look forward to reading what everyone else has to say.
Be blessed and be bold!

Hi Kim! It has been a while since I've had time to participate in the discussions -- and though I'm two days late, I wrote a post. Thanks or sharing this video. It has been searching my heart.

Love!
Beth
