Café Chat May 2, 2009

(Focus in on the part I highlighted in red today)

"When, because of your faith, your life too becomes perceptibly different; when your reactions are quite opposite to what the situation seems to call for and your activities can no longer be explained in terms of your personality; that is when your neighborhood will sit up and take notice. In the eyes of the world, it is not our relationship with Jesus Christ that counts; it is our resemblance to him!

This comes from Beth Moore's Study on Esther...she quoted this excerpt from The Queen and I. I believe the original author is Ray Stedman, but Beth said she got it from Charles Swindoll... OK, I hope I gave everybody the right credit :)

The last part of this excerpt (in red) really stuck with me after I read it for the first time. I agree with the author of this quote, the world doesn’t necessarily care about our personal relationship with Jesus. People maybe intrigued by our relationship with Christ, but in the end I think it is how we live out our relationship with Christ that the world is really watching with a close eye.

In my own life my talk about my relationship with Christ has been bigger than my actual relationship with Him. We need to “walk the talk” as the saying goes. I need to “walk the talk” too.
When you read the quote above, especially the last part of the quote, do you agree with the author or disagree? Why did you answer the way you did?

Your sister in Christ, Kim

Our awesome Father brought it all together for me this morning. I love it!!! I really wanted to write a follow-up to some things going on at work, and it tied in perfectly with today's topic.

Blessings!

I've read these for a while and finally decided to participate...and I'm really glad I did! It's neat how God works in your own heart as your write to share with others! Praise Him...and have a happy weekend!

Yes, I do agree with the comment. Although I do think that whatever our relationship is, shows in our resemblance of Christ. In other words, if you are not walking the talk, then you probably do not have a very intimate relationship. You can be born again and not have intimacy. So, if we are not walking the talk, I think we should ask ourselves what kind of relationship do we really have? Remember, too, James tells us that faith without works is dead.
