Café Chat January 3rd
Happy New Year! I can’t believe it is 2009 already, can you? Today’s question will be quick and to the point as I am still trying to wind down from Christmas, and keep my wits about me with all my children home until January 8th. Can any moms relate with me?
I am making a request from the readers at the Café for 2009. I know that the Café has a wonderful group of women that visit on a regular basis. I don’t know if most of the readers visit on the weekend, but the “Café Chat” question is posted every Saturday. There is a small group of women who answer the “Chat” questions weekly, and I am very thankful for their insights and answers to the weekly questions. In addition, I would like to request that the regular readers of the Cafe would participate in the weekly meme too. I think we all could benefit from each other’s answers and experiences.
Hoping 2009 is a year we all grow more in love with our Jesus! Now the question…
Blessings and have a Merry Christmas!!!

What is the most important truth/lesson you feel God taught you in 2008? How will that truth change your life in 2009?
Blessings and have a Merry Christmas!!!

The most important lesson that, I feel God taught me in 2008 is to remind us that our life here on Earth is very temporary and that our real home is with Him. When you lose someone that you love deeply and you wonder why, hopefully, it takes you back to the real reason of it all.
I'm doing my best to keep that as my main focus as I move forward for 2009!
I feel that the most important thing I learned is the bridal of the tongue. Words can really hurt a person. I've learned to by-pass the gossip and attentively ask myself, "What is complaining?" I have come to realize that anything other than praising God is a slap in His face. When we complain, gossip, and speak wrongly of others, we turn our backs on God.

I think it is an ongoing lesson right now for me, but the most important truth God is teaching me is to speak the truth in love and to be bold and to not hide the gifts He has given me.
How will that truth change your life in 2009
My prayer is that I will continue to let God grow my gifts so that I may impact other for Him.
My post is up! It was a surprisingly easy answer this week!
The most important lesson God attempted to teach me (I'm still learning) last year is to give my fears and anxieties to him. I struggle so much with being fearful and anxious and am desperately working to change that. I am slowly learning that I don't need to handle everything by myself. God wants me to lean on Him and doesn't expect me to do it alone. I'm a work in progress but am aware of what needs work. My plan for 2009? Pray continually and give my fears and anxieties to God.
As we searched for a new church home this year I had to ask myself,"what am I looking for?"I slowly realized God was saying the building, the programs, the ministries etc is not nearly as important as what I am doing in the home myself. So my focus for 2009 is on being more consistent with consciously teaching my girls about God at home.
My new church family has helped me to see how everything I have comes from God. How grateful I should be for all that I have. At the same time I need to become more giving to others. People of all situations. Also the importance of Titheing. We did a series on giving 10% of our income no matter what. God blesses us with it, and we should give some back. I will go into the New year longing for a more intimate relationship with God. Also having the desire to give and help more than ever. I pray for a wonderful year.

God has shown me through so many instances that He wants an intimate relationship with me. Not being taught that growing up it has been an adventure to learn what that is and discover the excitement and blessings that come along with that relationship. I can't wait to see what it becomes in 2009!
God is always watching over us even though sometimes we sin and it's not right. That's the most important lesson. I love God!

Hello to everyone and God Bless
I feel that God is working on me daily and He doesn't give up. I find myself reaching a dark pit and He reaches down to save me from that. I have learned from God of His infinite love for me and how no matter where my thoughts may lead to, no matter how alone I may feel, I can lift my hands in worship, I can simply ask Him "God, are you here?" And I know He is. I want to learn to love like Him. I pray 2009 will bring me greater revelations for my life and what He wants from me.
Another great question Kim!
Well, for me it would be simply, that I can do anything through Christ who strengthens me. I've heard it for years, even remembered the scripture but this past year he has really forced me to see it in my own life. For this new year, will be a constant reminder to trust in him to work out all the details that are bigger than me to bring things together so that I can follow the dream he has placed within me.
Great questions... and I can so relate about the kids.. luckily mine go back on the 5th, but that's only 1/4, so it doesn't make too much of a difference for me... we're a bit house bound with the cold weather lately though so cabin fever is high!
re the question:
that i need less.. i need to stop thinking i deserve more... i mean in the wasteful selfish way... hence my theme this year is less of me! :)

I have to say that "it's not about me." There are times when things happen and I sit and ponder why for hours sometimes days. The past 3 years the Holy Spirit has been dropping Isaiah 43;19 in my spirit.
I could not figure out who it was for or why. But once I realized this thing we call life, this pilgrimage we are on is really to His glory I was able to let those ponderings go!
If we call oursleves Christians or are in relationship with Him we must know its not about US!
Nor is it always about prayering for deliverance or getting through as much as it is praying for the lesson.
I love you Lord!
Stay in His Grip!
I will be posting on my blog. Just want to say thank you for the inspiration I have found her.
The most important thing God has taught me in 2008 is to trust in Him completely and turn over everything to HIM. He has a plan for me and is in control, even when the situation seems hopeless from my viewpoint.
GBY!
This is a tough one to answer as to what is the most important lesson God has brought to my attention. My youngest (age 22) was married in Nov.and her new husband is re-enlisting in the army (so she'll be out of state), my oldest lives in Colorado with her family which inclue my only grandchildren to date(I am in Calif.) my oldest son is 2 hours away and my youngest son is looking to move out soon. Quite a menu. God is having me refocus, not just me but my husband of 40 years also, on us and on some of the simple pleasures that God has to offer and life itself. The nest is quickly becoming empty and our priorities are changing quickly.
We are still focusing on what God wants us to do and on what the new year will bring our way.
God Bless ♥
What a great question Kim...and one that I have had on my mind lately. Wow...you must have been reading my mind! I hope that you all are having a wonderful new year already!
Bountiful Blessings to you
I've learned to trust Him more. He's led me to a wonderful new job, where I have some Christian co-workers. I will continue to trust Him for guidance in 2009. God bless!
Your blog has helped increase my Faith, which has been both my truth and my lesson for 2008.
Thank you.
I learned that it's not about me, not in the least. The time and blessings that God has given me should be used to bring glory to Him.
I posted my answer hours ago and forgot to link it here!
Have a good rest of the weekend, ladies!
I linked up for the first time! :) Great meme, I'm so glad I found the first one of '09!!

In 2008 I have learned: God is Good, all the time; ALL the time, God is Good. Even (especially) when I don't understand and I don't agree. He is good! Thankfully, He has it all under control and He will glorify Himself. I'm still working on acknowledging His control. I used to think I had to give it to Him but now I realize that He is already in control - with or without my consent! Thank Heaven!
Thank you for this wonderful site - I have received MANY days of encouragement. God bless you all in 2009!
I have learned that the plans I have for myself and my family are far outshadowed by my Father in heaven. He blesses me with joyful experiences and quiet solemn moments of time in which is presence is all I need or could hope to desire.
How it will impact 2009 for me is that I'll to continue seeking him and not underestimate the power of His love for His children.
