Be still and know that He is God

Be still, and know that I am God.
Psalm 46:10

This verse always makes me stop. It speaks to my soul. The Lord knows how hectic life can be and exactly what I need, to be still and realize that He is God.

As I meditate on this verse I ask the question, "What does being still look like? And just what does God want me to know about him?"

Here are some thoughts:

Quiet your mind, calm your heart, and realize that He is in ultimate control of what touches your life.

Listen to what He has to say. Really listen! Allow Him to speak to your heart.

Delight in Him. Be content and know that He is aware of all your needs even before you ask.

Wait patiently. He is working in you and through you. It may take weeks, months, and even years to complete. Don't worry! What may seem like unanswered prayers is actually His perfect timing for you and those in your life.

In everything be thankful! He is all-powerful, all- wise, loving, just, patient, and so much more. You can trust Him with your life.

"Be still, and know that I am God."

In Him...Chris

This is a wonderful verse, and one I don't practice near enough.

Thanks for the encouragement.

This is something I struggle with every day. I cannot silently meditate on the Lord or be in the moment very long; my mind wanders, or I start talking to God. Recently somebody said whatever you're stewing over is probably what God wants to talk to you about, but sometimes I'd just like to hush and hear his voice. It doesn't happen as often as I'd like.

I love that verse, there is a little song that just repeats the words over and over I sing inside my head a lot. Especially when I feel anxious. Such a big thing to just relax, and know God has me taken care of.
Thanks for the reminder.

Chris,
This is a verse that God has spoken to me over and over in these last few years. The other day I came to grips with more of the realization of what He had done in me in the stillness. He became God. I read in a book this statement, "God is a verb" and I realized that in the stillness God had taken me to, He had become a verb in my life. It had become about what He did through me.

I loved your observations.

I am new to the Internet Cafe blogging team. I look forward to reading more of what God is teaching you.

Blessings,
Julie
