Café Chat January 24th

Once again, I want to thank all of you that are participating in the “Café Chat”. I would be so distressed if my questions and answers were the only ones on the post. I have so loved reading your responses the last couple of weeks, and you all are just blowing me away (in a good way for sure).

This week I am changing up the tone just a bit, but you will still be blessed in a big way. I want to talk about miracles that have happened in your personal life. Remember miracles come in all shapes and sizes; don’t get caught into thinking of one way only.

In as much detail as you would like to share, please tell me a “miracle” that has happened in your own life.

Let us share the wonderful works of our Lord together this week!

Again, if you have not yet shared at the “Café”, let this be your week. As for those of you that have shared in the past, thank you from the bottom of my heart

Kim

Well, my life as a whole is a miracle. There are so many things that add up to one great big miracle that God has had His hand on me my whole life! My family was in a car accident when I was three months old and my mom was holding me. She turned around and shielded me. When I was a teenager I was living in Romania with my parent who were missionaries and I got very ill. I was sick with fever and pain for over a month and by the time we got back to the states and figures out what was wrong my body had already fought off the illness. In 1996 there was an outbreak of this disease in Romania, I just called it the chicken disease because its name is hard to pronounce and it is carried by chickens. Well anyway hundreds died in Romania that year and even a friend of ours died when it attacked her brain. It attacked my kidneys but everything was fine and I am okay. As an adult we have been broke down in the bonx, and have been on the road and seen accidents happen that we should have been in but avoided it. Just last week my family and I were in a car accident, the car was totaled but we all walked away with just a couple of bruises! God is good and His hand on my life is a miracle in and of itself. That He chooses to protect me and love me in spite of myself will always amaze me. My husbands passport was even taken and we are heading back to the states on Monday. We live in Slovenia and were not sure what was going to happen but it all worked out and everything is taken care of. If you just stop and look at your own lives I am sure that you will see all the times that God's hand was there to protect you and keep you. Praise God that He is always there and is all knowing and all powerful! Sometimes I wonder why we ever worry because He has it all under control anyway! Sorry for the long post, I hope that it encourages you today!

my husband and I own an inground poolbuilding business and last year we did about 1/3 of the business we usually do. In God's faithfulness, He provided in miraculous ways not only for the basic needs of our family, but also provided enough to get us out of debt. Once our debt was paid off, we prayed about making a sacrificial pledge to our church and after we made it (just the pledge, we had not even given the money yet), we unexpectedly received the amount that we had pledged plus $91 within a week of deciding in our hearts to give. Oh what joy it is to watch God move in miraculous ways!

I will post one of the very many miracles that God has done in my life. A short one here that I won't mention in my post today is: was a piano major for my undergrad college days. went to a Christian college (Roberts Wesleyan in Rochester NY). During the summer between my 1st and 2nd years there I sliced open my right hand thumb (I'm left handed) and it severed a main artery. Thumb was paralyzed for 9 months. The college allowed me to stay in the program and provided left handed music (I didn't know there were composers who wrote for just that hand!) so I could meet my piano recital requirements. 9 months of prayer, struggle and almost giving up, the Lord restored the feeling in my thumb. Doctors said it wouldn't ever work. It is fine! PTL!

Wow I can think of a bunch of miracles that God has performed for me in my life. The one I will share is that there was a time in my life where my mental health was so bad that it was believed that I would never hold a job, never function etc...but over a period of time God healed that. It was not overnight but over a period of years God kept working on me. Today my life is vastly different than it was over a decade ago. While there have been times that I have still struggled when things get overwhelming overall I am as the Word promises a totally different creation.

this is a great topic

There are many miracles that God has performed. One of the greatest was sparing the life of my son.
Because of fertility treatments, we were positive of the night of our son's conception. About 4½ months into my pregnancy, my Dr, a Christian, looked at me and said that he couldn't explain why, but I needed a sonar. Trusting him, I agreed and it was scheduled for the next day. As my husband and I watched the sonar screen, the nurse was showing us different parts of his little body..heart, spine, etc. When she came to where his kidneys should be, they weren't there. Neither was his bladder. Everything else was there and functioning, but not these vital organs. The nurse tried to comfort us by saying I wasn't as far along as I thought, but we knew better. Upstairs in my Dr's office I cried and he told me that we'd give it 2 weeks. At the end of that time, if another sonar showed the same thing, he'd set me up with a bigger hospital in a neighboring city and we'd take it from there. If there wasn't a kidney available upon our son's delivery, he would die. Just before we left his office, my Dr hugged me and looked me straight in the face and said, "Deb..we know Somebody higher."
We were new Christians and didn't know anything about intecessory prayer, so at church that night, we went to the altar together and "placed" our little boy there, giving him over to God.
2 weeks later, another sonar began the same way.."here's his spine, and his heart and look!! 2 beautiful, fully functioning kidneys and a bladder!" We cried again, but this time tears of shear joy and thankfulness to our Father.
4 days before Christmas a very healthy 7lb 11oz little boy was born, who by the way, just celebrated his 16th birthday!
God is worthy to be praised!!

One day I will write a book about all the miracles in my life. For now, I will condense a few of them. First, I was a teenage mom at 17 and married the father of my baby at 18. We both came from broken homes and numerous divorces. In the past 15 years we have moved over 20 times, experienced some level of infidelity from both of us, have had to deal with alcohol and drugs as part of the mix, been at the bottom with our finances and had 4 more children. To add to that, our two youngest children have had health problems and we have lived off of my husbands income alone for the past 8 years! The fact that we are together at all is a miracle in itself as from the world's standards, we had the odds stacked against us.

To top it off, we both got saved AFTER we were married. Me when our second daughter was around one years old. And my husband just after our third child (our first son) was born. That first year we got attacked by the devil himself in several areas. We nearly divorced but as a last resort, we started going to church after a 4 month hiatus.

This last year, our oldest daughter was in a car accident with three of her Christian friends. I wrote about it in my blog and titled it His Methods and His Miracles. None of them should have lived, and only my daughter had any lasting injuries. And Angel came to the scene and stayed with the girls until the ambulance arrived. Then he vanished.

Oh, there is sooo much more! All I know is God has His hand in our lives, and no matter how much we mess up He cares enough to see us through until we are focused on His purpose again.

Beloved I have so many miracles that have happened in my life, but I have one that I will share.
I was in a car accident 8 years ago.I was on my way home from work when I was hit by some young kids who were hill jumping. They hit me as they were coming down from the junp. Needless to say they did not get seriously hurt, me I got 2 broke ankles. My left ankle was broke so severly that I have a rod placed in my ankle an about 1/4 way up my leg.But I am thankful to God because before I went up that hill that evening there was a truck in front of me and the bumper sticker said "Have you thanked God today" as the truck turned I said yes everyday all day and then when it was my turn to stop at the stop sign I picked up a passenger and that passenger was Jesus. Little did I know at that time that the enemy was waiting for me at the top of the hill. This is not the only time that he has tried to destroy me, but each time God has interceded and said no I have a purpose for this one.
I have told this story so many times because God is so real and I am here today walking in the path that Jesus has laid out for me.

This is my first time to share at the Cafe. I just couldn't pass up an opportunity to recall the wondrous works of God in our family. One of the first miracles God performed in my life was when we decided to start a family. First, I was diagnosed with a pituitary brain tumor. After about 6 months, God took the tumor away, confirmed by MRI, but not acknowledged by doctors. We became pregnant and at first the doctors told me, because of the tumor, the pregnancy would be life-threatening (it was not). Then the baby did not have a heartbeat at the "appropriate time" and they recommended a D&C. We refused and 2 weeks later, there was the heartbeat. I had preterm labor starting at 6 1/2 months and was put on bedrest until we delivered a past due, healthy 8 lb baby girl. Each of our children has been a miraculous work of God, overcoming infertility diagnosis, disease diagnosis, complications and predictions of the doctors. At this point, the doctor simply says, "There is someone above who looks out for you and helps you defy all odds." I am so humbled and grateful for each miracle.

I posted my miracle to my blog... at http://hineni-here-i-am.blogspot.com

I am thankful for the encouragement from all of you as I read of God's goodness in each one's testimony of miracles. Of course the greatest miracle is our salvation.

God reached down and saved me, when I wasn't even looking for Him. He then proceeded to transform my life to reflect His glory and be a living epistle to the mercy and grace available in His Kingdom to whosoever will... The perfect Father.

When I was 18 I was shot in the back with a big hand gun, I was a very small person at the time and was told I should not have survived. God saved me and he saved me whole (it came out my left breast and I was able to breast feed). God's miracles are big in my life and often. I see him work constantly. We live in a chaotic world and the Almighty has the power to cover and protect us from anything. I am more aware of my surroundings and I pray for his guidance and his deliverance. My God is full of grace and mercy...I thank him everyday that I can help someone else (I can do that because he saved me when I was 18) and not give the God of this world any glory at all. I am alive.

This is my first time linking in so hope my choice is applicable!

My miracle has to do more with me (maybe!)finally getting that God can take a broken down screw-up like me and do a wonderful, amazing work out of His Abounding Grace.

I have always wanted to tell others about how great God is but have been too scared, insecure, untrusting...I could go on and on.

Now, I am actually taking that big 'ol "step of faith" and I am knocking-knees scared, but going for it.

I have a strangle hold on 2 Cor 9:8. :)

Have a blessed week!

Shannon
