God Is Bigger Than Google

GOD IS BIGGER THAN GOOGLE

How do I get on the first page of Google? Which key words do I have optimized? Does any of this make sense to you? My husband is a web designer. One of the things he does for websites is SEO or Search Engine Optimization. SEO is the process of improving the traffic to one’s website with the end result of getting ranked on the first page of a search engine, like Google.

Everybody is searching. Google has even become a verb. “Google it.” It means to search by means of the Internet. Those with questions want to find answers, and those with sites want to be found. Being found means getting listed on the first page of a Google search, because no one looks past the first page. Getting on the first page has a lot to do with how you are ranked. Your ranking has to do with the amount of traffic to your site. Are you following me?

There are many ways to improve your traffic; then there is the Google factor. No one knows the exact formula Google uses for ranking websites. So the Google factor becomes the unknown.

This Google factor is what has SEO experts scratching their heads. My husband sat perplexed on our bed one afternoon as he explained his frustration with getting one of his sites ranked. “I’ve done everything I know how to do, and the site isn’t ranking.”

“Well, there are some things we just can’t control,” I spoke and listened at the same time, knowing God was helping with the words. “Work hard, and do all you can, then have faith in God to control the rest. God is bigger than Google.”

Maybe we don’t all need our site ranked on Google’s first page, but we all need faith. Mountain-moving faith. I need it. You need it. My husband needs it. Not the faith we have in shedding light at the flip of a switch. Not the faith of waking at a prescribed time to the beep, beep, beep of an alarm clock, but the faith that God is all-powerful. Faith that God can control the Google factors in our lives. He is bigger than any unknown, and He can optimize your search – whatever it is.

~What are your trying to control today?

~Are you ready to relinquish control?

Let go, and let God. So when the fear of the unknown suffocates and swallows you, have faith. God is bigger than Google.

...so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power. 1 Corinthians 2:5 NIV

This was a great post. Thanks. I so often say well, "just Google it". Didn't know how you got to be the first in the ranking, now I know. Being first with God is so much more important and we all rank first with Him, isn't that wonderful. Thanks for making me think. Blesings..great writing.

I need the God bigger than Google today. Trying to control the summer routine around here is nearly doing me in. My husband is away this week, and my busy (beyond the needs of the kids) requires more free time then I've been given.

Can I Google a camp for them? Seriously, I'm just having a "how am I gonna get things done" kind of moment. Your words have brought me perspective this morning.

"Lord, help my unbelief"...it was only when I did "Believing God" study with Beth Moore that I realized how deep-rooted my 'unbelief' was,(a big shock since I thought I was a 'good' Christian after so many years). God had become 'not believable' because He did not 'answer' the way I thought He should.
Thankfully, since then, He has been teaching me about faith and that He is Who He says He is, he can do what He says He can do..and to add to that..WHEN He says...
His love, dependability, consistency, faithfulness, compassion..never fails, even when I do..
Thank you for reminding me how big God is today as I am struggling today..blessings..

Great GOOGLE post Carol! You are so right...about what are we searching for...and God is in control! We forget to give OUR BIG GOD all that is due HIM! I had a issue with wanting to "control"
and relinquishing that control scared me. And as regards my site being ranked, I'm thankful just when it looks like someone is reading it but I write for me & HIM! It's true I wanted to use it as a ministry or evangelizing tool
but so far it has not been written for that...or maybe it has...only God knows. My point is that you have a special gift of glorifying God with your words and humor!
Thank you for using your gift of writing to honor FAITH in God and leading all us sheep to His mercy, power, wisdom in HIS WORD & mostly to Our Lord in whatever we do! Bless you as you bless others & me!

I am not a control freak, more of a anxiety ridden worrier. I realize no amount of worry will ever change anything! Prayer and positive living is what I am trying to do! Thanks for your wonderful words. Cindi

Thanks for the reminder. God is bigger than google.

I don't rank very high on google. I find it funny that something I entitled one of my posts without thinking about shows up repeatedly when I look at my hitstats.

I was watching a friend's girl's and they fell in love with the "Let me out, I'm stuck in your pocket" ringtone. I used it as the title but to talk about hope not the ringtone!

I think that is my only fame to showing up on Google!

I like your point about control. It is about God!
